The fungi and bacteria present in bio-diesel will react with the water present in the biodiesel content because biodiesel is more hygroscopic (absorbs water) than ordinary diesel. This reaction will form a fine sediment and gum. In addition, biodiesel reacts with oxygen in the storage tank, with age it will form fine sediments and gums.
Tthis fine sediment and gum will block the fuel filter. Fine sediments and gums cannot be burned in the combustion chamber so if they are not removed they can cause carbon deposits and soot on the injectors and other combustion chamber surfaces.pre-filter : 7 microns, final filter : 2.5 micron.
